Retooling Community Energy
October 17, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
CEKAP aims to improve data-driven decisions and the use of decision-support tools within community energy planning and local policymaking. As part of the project, we are hosting a half-day workshop to share expertise and seek feedback from practitioners on community energy decision support tools
The workshop will explore three questions:
- What analytical tools are currently available to community and corporate energy managers to make decisions about local energy initiatives and policies?
- How have these tools been used in the decision-making process? That is, what questions are being asked and answered through these tools?
- What are the opportunities to improve these tools for local energy advocates and decision-makers?
The workshop will open with a presentation on energy economy decision support tools. This presentation will also share a recent case study from Vancouver which demonstrates the use of analytical tools to estimate the effects of energy policy at the municipal scale. The presentation will be followed by a facilitated discussion in which partners can explore their current use of analytical tools for decision making in community energy, and how they might expand this capacity in the future. A second presentation and discussion on geo-spatial analysis will follow.
This will be an in-person meeting, with an opportunity for remote participation via webinar link. Lunch will be provided for those participating in-person.
